SCENARIO #1
Facilitator: ____________________
CHAPTER NAME & LOCATION: Harmoniously Yours Chapter – Northview, New York
TIME OF YEAR: Regular rehearsal -- early Summer
SITE: Your
rehearsal hall
SCENE:
You are a small and accomplished chorus with a
membership that fluctuates between 25 and 30 members. Several of your members
are “snowbirds”, taking up residency in the southern United States
for the winter months. Most of these singers rehearse with choruses of a lesser singing caliber than Harmoniously Yours Chapter.
Your chorus embraces the concept of Dual Membership, appreciating that these singers are active in Sweet Adelines
year-round and return to your chorus ready to sing well…without losing a step in the process. One “snowbird”, (a LEAD!), winters with an International Champion Chorus. Her return to your “B-Level” singing chorus is welcomed, but difficult because she GLOATS about
her huge championship medal (she wears it to EVERY rehearsal); she coaches from
the risers (making references to the many things her “other chorus” does to sing well; and she is very disruptive
in section rehearsals – undermining the efforts of your Director and Lead Section Leaders.
CHARACTERS
THAT NEED ASSIGNING:
* Chorus Director
* Frustrated Lead Section Leader
* Chorus Members
* Several Snowbirds
who have missed singing with the higher-calibre Harmoniously
Yours Chapter and are more than HAPPY to be back “home” for the summer months,
ONE obnoxious returning
LEAD snowbird
who sings with the International Champion Chorus during
your winter months and sees Harmoniously Yours Chapter as doing most everything wrong.
