Attitudes Anonymous Scenarios #5&6
SCENARIO #5
Facilitator: ____________________
CHAPTER NAME & LOCATION: Consistent Ring Chapter, Bellsville, New York
TIME OF YEAR:
January
SITE: Your
rehearsal hall
SCENE:
You are a well-organized chorus of hard-working
singers. You have a very organized Director who is well-respected by all of the members and, due to a work conflict, will
not be at rehearsal this evening. Your
Assistant Director, (a really good musician who does a masterful job at just about anything she’s asked to do)
is the rehearsal facilitator tonight. The schedule has been planned, distributed to the entire membership and everyone knows
what music is needed, what time Sectionals will take place, when choreography work will begin and end, etc… No stone
has been left unturned.
The Assistant Director embraces this “night-on-her-own” as an opportunity to be in charge of the
plan as SHE sees fit. As a result, there IS no schedule…except hers.
Contest songs are reinterpreted to her liking and the chorus, overall, becomes increasingly confused as they strive to please
the Assistant Director while making confusing changes in what they’ve learned, thus far.
In all actuality, the Assistant Director is capable of directing her OWN chorus…and uses this opportunity
to experiment as a Front Line Director.
CHARACTERS
THAT NEED ASSIGNING:
·
Assistant Director with the skills and ambition to be a front line Director and uses this opportunity as a chance
to “strut her stuff”
·
Chorus Members who came prepared to follow the PLAN that was e-mailed to them two weeks ago…and become increasingly
confused throughout the night
·
Section Leaders who are well-prepared to run sectionals according to the plan.
·
Choreographer who expects to have 30 minutes of time to teach new choreography to contest uptune.

– And, using same personnel, create a role play which fixes the situation. Be prepared to TALK about the issues, above,
and make suggestions for the Assistant Director…in order for her to realize fulfillment in her current role as an ASSISTANT.
